What is Copyright Shield

Copyright Shield is a privacy-focused content protection application within the ProMediaFlow platform. It allows you to secure digital copyrights for your creative and technical assets—such as applications, scripts, projects, and music—without storing or uploading your raw files to the internet.

The application operates as a trustless registry. It generates a unique cryptographic fingerprint of your file locally on your device. By connecting an external cryptocurrency wallet, you can sign this fingerprint to establish permanent, irrefutable, and legally verifiable proof of authorship, keeping your original work completely private and secure.

Getting started

To begin protecting your digital content, prepare with the following steps:

1. Open the App: Navigate to your ProMediaFlow platform dashboard and open the Copyright Shield application.
2. Set Up Your Wallet: Ensure you have the MetaMask wallet installed on your device (as a browser extension or a mobile application), set up, unlocked, and ready to use.
3. Prepare Your File: Have the digital file you want to protect (such as a script, application, music, or project file) ready on your computer or local device.

Note on Costs: Copyright Shield does not charge or consume ProMediaFlow platform-specific credits for registering assets. However, completing registrations on the blockchain requires authorizing and paying network transaction fees (gas fees) native to the Polygon network directly through your connected MetaMask wallet.

Key capabilities

• Polygon Ledger Registration: The primary end-goal of Copyright Shield is to submit your signed digital fingerprints directly to the decentralized Polygon blockchain network. Once recorded, this establishes an immutable, tamper-proof, and legally verifiable record of your ownership.
• Cryptographic Asset Signing: You can use the private keys secured by your connected MetaMask wallet to digitally sign the locally generated fingerprint, asserting your ownership over the asset.
• Local Cryptographic Fingerprinting: The app automatically generates a secure, unique SHA-256 cryptographic fingerprint of your digital assets. Because this computation happens entirely within your web browser on your local device, your actual files are never uploaded or stored on any external servers. Any alteration to your original file will result in a completely different fingerprint, preventing anyone from tampering with your work or claiming false authorship.
• External Wallet Integration: You can seamlessly connect your MetaMask wallet to the application to securely manage your cryptographic keys, approve signature requests, and authorize blockchain transactions directly through the user interface.

How to use it

Registering your digital assets involves a simple four-step process:

1. Generate the Fingerprint: Select or upload your digital asset file within the application interface. The system will automatically compute and display a secure cryptographic hash representing your file.
2. Connect Your Wallet: Click the connection option in the app to link your external MetaMask wallet to Copyright Shield.
3. Sign the Hash: Review the generated content hash shown on your screen, then approve the signature request that appears in your MetaMask wallet.
4. Complete On-Chain Registration: Authorize the final transaction in your wallet to broadcast your signed hash and transaction data to the Polygon blockchain network. Once the transaction is validated and completed, your proof of authorship is permanently secured on-chain.

Tips & notes

• Permanent and Unalterable: Because blockchain entries are permanent and tamper-proof, once a digital fingerprint is registered on the Polygon network, it cannot be edited, deleted, or altered. Always ensure you have selected the correct, final version of your file before completing the transaction.
• Wallet Readiness: Make sure your MetaMask wallet is active, unlocked, and connected to the correct network before attempting to sign and register your files.
• Transaction Gas Fees: Completing the on-chain registration on the Polygon blockchain network requires authorizing and paying gas fees directly through your connected MetaMask wallet.
• Privacy-First Security: Copyright Shield does not store or upload your raw files to any server or blockchain. Your actual creative work remains entirely private and secure on your local device.
